2024 marked another challenging yet cautiously optimistic year for the Hungarian startup ecosystem. Reflecting broader global trends, total investments merely stagnated, hovering around €54 million compared to €56 million in 2023, just a very slight decrease year over year. This stagnation mirrored ongoing investor caution across Europe, where funding remained constrained compared to peak years.

2023 was a turbulent year for the local startup ecosystem. Mirroring global trends, we saw a dramatic decline in investment - a plunge of over 60%, from a record €180 million to just €65 million echoing the downturn across Europe, with investments falling by more than 50% from the 2021 peak of €100 billion.
